Our fall tour visits four of the fiftieth state’s most sought-after islands and resort, where sun-filled days of relaxation are succeeded by balmy, tropical nights. Palm trees sway along beaches of golden sand, gently lapped by the surf-capped blue Pacific. Ukuleles strum a soft melody to accompany the graceful hula dance. Meals: 9 Full Breakfasts

Day 1 - FLIGHT TO HONOLULU - Fly from Louisville to Honolulu with arrival in the islands in the late afternoon. Here, you are greeted with the traditional Hawaiian flower lei. Next, we are transferred to our hotel on Waikiki Beach, where we spend the next four nights.

Day 2 - HILO HATTIE’S - This morning, we’re off to fabulous Hilo Hattie’s, the island’s largest manufacturers of muu muus, shirts and Hawaiian souvenirs. The afternoon is free to explore the shops or explore Waikiki Beach. Overnight same hotel.

Day 3 - PEARL HARBOR - ARIZONA MEMORIAL - Today, learn about and experience Oahu’s finest and most popular attraction, Pearl Harbor, where the climax of your visit is a stop to board the Arizona Memorial, which still sits where it sank during the war. We continue on a comprehensive sightseeing tour, where you see the famed King Kamehameha Statue, the Iolani Palace (the only royal palace on U.S. ground) and the awe-inspiring grandeur of the National Cemetery of the Pacific, popularly known as “The Punchbowl.” Overnight same hotel.

Day 4 - LEISURE DAY IN WAIKIKI - Today you are free to pursue your own interests in Waikiki. There is a world to choose from for shoppers of all tastes. Farther along Waikiki’s Kalakaua Avenue, you will find the Royal Hawaiian Mall with fantastic views over the Pacific, as you shop for island fashions, souvenirs, or elegant designer goods. Overnight same hotel.

Day 5 - KAUAI - WAILUA RIVER - FERN GROTTO - Today, we fly to the magical island of Kauai, the “Garden Isle.” Upon arrival, we go directly to Smith Landing, where we board a riverboat for the cruise along the scenic Wailua River to the famous Fern Grotto, a popular site for weddings. As we cruise back down river, our Hawaiian guides teach us how to do an authentic hula dance. Next, we check into our hotel in Kauai, where we spend the next three nights.

Days 6 -7 - FREE DAYS IN KAUAI - These are free days to enjoy the scenery and activities of the “Garden Isle.” There are shops and boutiques near the hotel, where you may search for those perfect souvenirs or gifts for your family back home. You may choose to take an optional tour to the beautiful Waimea Canyon, known locally as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific.” Or you may choose to enjoy the warm Polynesian sun and work on that perfect tan. Overnight same hotel.

Day 8 - FLIGHT TO KONA - Fly from Kauai to Kona on the “Big Island” of Hawaii - the newest in the Hawaiian Chain. Its surface of cooled lava brings to mind a moonscape, which forms a dramatic backdrop to the town of Kailua-Kona and the resorts with their black sand beaches.We spend the next three nights in Kona.

Day 9 - BIG ISLAND SIGHTSEEING TOUR - A full day of sightseeing takes you all around the “Big Island.” First, you stop to see Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, where you can walk through the Thurston Lava Tube, a hollowed lava formation large enough for a tall man to walk through. We will also visit the Hawaii Coffee Company Museum and Farm to sample the Kona Coffee exclusive to this one region. Next, we stop in Hilo for souvenir shopping. Hilo is known for its rainbow of orchids and macadamia nut farms, reminding you that this rugged island has its temperate side too. Finally, we stop at the Park Ranch Visitor Center, where we view paintings of the “paniolos,” the Hawaiian cowboys, and purchase cowboy souvenirs. You will be awed by panoramic views of the Hamakua Coast, Waimea and Kealakekua Bay. Overnight same hotel.

Day 10 - LEISURE DAY IN KONA - Today will be a full day of leisure to be adventurous as you dare. You can shop along the picturesque main street of Kona, or take an optional helicopter ride that takes you across the crater of the active volcanoes with a bird’s eye view of the burning lava. Overnight same hotel.

Day 11 - MAUI - OLD LAHAINA TOWN - This morning, we depart the “Big Island,” and fly to beautiful Maui, the “Royal Isle” of the ancient Hawaiian kings. As you cross the island, stop to see the strange Iao Needle rising from the tropical foliage and see how this island earned its nickname of the “Valley Isle.” Next, you stop in Old Lahaina Town with its picturesque scenery and whaling village atmosphere. The resort area of Ka’anapali will be your home for the next three nights.

Days 12 -13 - LEISURE DAYS IN KAN’ANAPALI - These days are free to enjoy the excellent beach at Ka’anapali or the variety of excursions that lie at our doorstep. The beach that lays just steps away from our hotel is one of the finest in the world. Nearby the hotel is Whaler’s Village, a vast complex of shops, stores, boutiques and restaurants that can absorb shoppers for days at a time. Or you may wish to visit Front Street in the heart of Lahaina. Overnight same hotel.
