This new trip to Massachusetts and beyond offers Yankee fun and adventure, visiting beautiful Cape Ann and different places in Boston.
Day 1 – Jamestown, New York – Today, we travel through Ohio and Pennsylvania into Jamestown, New York for our first overnight. Jamestown is located in New York State’s beautiful Chautauqua region.
Day 2 – Corning Glass Museum – Springfield, Massachusetts – This morning we visit Corning,
New York, known as “Crystal City” where we visit the internationally known Corning Glass Museum. Here we will view an extensive collection of glass dating from 1400 B.C. through the present. Next, we visit nearby Historic Market Street for lunch on our own and shopping. This area has over 100 specialty stores and restaurants in beautifully restored 19th century buildings. Afterwards, we travel across New York State and continue to Springfield, Massachusetts where we overnight.
Day 3 – John F. Kennedy Museum – Boston Harbor Cruise – Skywalk Observatory – Our first day in Boston begins at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum, where it is said; even if you don’t visit the gift shop, you’ll like what you take home. After lunch on our own and shopping we will take a historic sightseeing cruise of the Boston Harbor. Our captain will share with us the legend and lore of the sea and tales of the Revolutionary War heroes on this full narrated cruise. Next, we’ll be able to see “Boston and beyond” at the Skywalk Observatory with sweeping 360 degree views of the city. We spend the next three nights in the Boston area.
Day 4 – Cape Ann Whale Watch – Rockport, Massachusetts – Today’s adventure will undoubtedly be one of the highlights of our tour as our Cape Ann Whale Watch boat takes us on a four hour sea safari to see the largest creatures on earth in their ocean home. We have included a boxed lunch on board the boat. Later this afternoon, nearby Rockport, Massachusetts will present us with beautiful scenery, artist galleries, interesting shopping, and the famous fishing shack, Motif #1, the most painted and photographed building in America. Overnight same hotel.
Day 5 – Salem Trolley Tour – House of the Seven Gables – Maritime National Historic Site – Our visit to the historic town of Salem will start with a narrated sightseeing tour aboard the Salem Trolley. Next, we visit the famous 360-year old House of the Seven Gables, “An American Masterpiece and a New England Treasure.” On the grounds are Nathaniel Hawthorne’s birthplace and beautiful gardens in a spectacular seaside setting. After lunch on our own, we visit the Salem Maritime National Historic Site. The historic buildings, wharves, and tall ship tell the stories of the sailors, Revolutionary War privateers, and merchants who brought the riches of the world to America. Overnight same hotel.
Day 6 – Bedford, Pennsylvania – Departing New England we travel to our last overnight in Bedford.
Day 7 – Home – After an included breakfast, we travel home to our own beautiful “Bluegrass State.” Meals: 5B
